In modern manufacturing, equipment involving organic solvents, combustible dust, or high-temperature drying processes is increasingly common. Industrial ovens or dryers in industries such as printing, heat treatment, and chemical coating carry certain fire and explosion risks. Recently, Shanghai Tengxi Construction Engineering completed an FM-standard-based explosion vent door retrofit project for Beneke Changshun Automotive Interior Materials (Zhangjiagang) ovens. The project successfully passed acceptance, fully demonstrating the practical value of FM standards in industrial equipment risk control and providing a replicable solution model for similar projects.

In FMDS6-9, FM clearly states:

• Equipment with fuel or combustible vapor risks must be equipped with explosion venting devices;

• Vent opening design should refer to: -FMDS1-44 (below 0.1 bar, weak structure) -FMDS7-32 (above 0.1 bar, strong structure)

• Venting direction should preferentially discharge outward to avoid secondary harm to operators or plant structures;

• Explosion vent doors must undergo daily visual inspection and regular pressure testing and functional confirmation. These requirements indicate that explosion venting systems are not an "optional extra" but a basic line of defense under the FM insurance mechanism.
