Shanghai Tengxi Invited to Attend FMApprovals Shanghai Technical Exchange Meeting, delivering a special presentation on the firestop quality system. Shanghai, May 2026 — FMApprovals recently held an internal technical exchange meeting in Shanghai. Shanghai Tengxi Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. was invited to attend and give a technical presentation on the quality control system for firestopping in Chinese industrial facilities. All attendees at this meeting were FMApprovals engineers, making it a high-level closed-door technical dialogue.

▌Topic Focus: How the Quality Evidence for Firestopping Can Withstand Scrutiny

At the exchange meeting, the Tengxi team, centered on the FM standards system, systematically explained the complete quality-evidence-chain framework from material certification to on-site installation to independent inspection, covering the applicable logic and interrelationships of core standards such as FM 4990, FM 4991, ASTM E2174/E2393 and NFPA 2001.

The meeting also conducted in-depth discussions on the coordination between the 《26J907****Cleanroom Building Construction》 atlas and FM** requirements**. Attending FM engineers raised multiple technical questions about the practical boundaries of implementation under the Chinese code system, and the on-site exchanges were lively.

▌Background: China’s only FM 4991 certified firestop contractor Public information shows the FM Approval Guide currently lists a total of 87 FM 4991 certified contractors worldwide, distributed in the United States, Qatar, the UAE, Singapore and other places. The only listed entity in China is Shanghai Tengxi.

▌Case Presentation: From the Construction Site to an Auditable Documentation Package At the FM 4991 meeting, Tengxi demonstrated how a certified contractor implements the full-process “review, construction, inspection, acceptance, handover” FM quality control in actual projects, and integrates material batch records, location photos, and workmanship records into a complete documentation package for engineers to review.

According to the presentation, Tengxi’s project delivery standard does not regard construction completion as the endpoint; rather, the loop is closed when the documentation package passes an independent review.

▌Extended Services: ILAC Internationally Recognized Third‑Party Inspection and Data Center Airtightness Testing After firestop installation is completed, independent third-party inspection is a key step to verify installation quality. Tengxi can coordinate with independent inspection bodies holding IAS AA-877 accreditation and mutually recognized for ISO/IEC 17020 Type A, ILAC, ASTM E2174 / E2393, to perform on-site sampling inspections of through-penetration firestops and building joints according to standards, and issue independent inspection reports that can be submitted to engineers or owners.

For data centers, battery rooms and control rooms equipped with gaseous extinguishing systems, firestop quality directly affects room airtight integrity and NFPA 2001 Annex D****14 extinguishing-agent holding time. In a recent data center project completed in collaboration, Tengxi conducted room integrity testing per gaseous extinguishing protection zone; all tests passed and holding times met the standard.

If firestopping is non-compliant and airtight holding time is inadequate, the extinguishing agent will fail in a real fire.
